Biography Chance (Hue) Rearden began his passion for decorating at an early age, where through the upbringing of an Auntie Mame style mother, he learned to love a myriad of cultural & design aesthetics. At the age of 13, he was given free rein to decorate his mother’s beach home in Manhattan Beach, CA. A native of Los Angeles, he grew up in “anywhere there was a beach” California. Chance earned his B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley where he was an art major, specializing in textile design. Chance worked as a set decorator, art director, and production designer in the entertainment industry for 20 years. Throughout those years he took on private, residential clients to decorate their homes. Two years ago he decided to switch to private clients only, has done primarily residential work, yet some commercial work as well. Chance feels that his strong suit is in his use of color, from which he received his moniker “Hue”. Due to his extensive entertainment industry work, Chance feels that he is equally at home in a multitude of design styles. Chance greets each new client with enthusiasm, professionalism and candor. His goal is to always make his clients comfortable with the design process, while sharing his aesthetics, and his love for the art of decorating. Chance knows that he is decorating for his client first and foremost, yet freely admits that he would never be happy if the finished project wasn’t a space that he himself would be comfortable living with. Chance is always ready for new clients and looks forward to his next design project. |
